Our side and total predictions are based on our analysis of streak and total in this game. Our best bet is our favorite across all markets.

money line analysis

Momentum in the series seems to have completely shifted in favor of the New York Rangers, but you have to take into account that the Carolina Hurricanes are undefeated at home this season.

The Canes seem to be a completely different team when they’re at the PNC Arena, considering they haven’t found a way to win an away match yet. Carolina sure is excited to be back in cozy spots – but there are plenty of question marks leading up to this game.

One notable struggle for the Canes is that – dating back to the regular season – they have now gone seven straight games against Rangers without scoring a solid goal. During the regular season, Canes power play converted at 22%, but it was horrendous in these playoffs, with only 11.1% conversion.

Rangers have been excellent at man advantage in this post-season, currently scoring 26.7% power-playing chances and finding the net in back-to-back games.

It’s not clear who the Canes will start in goal, with Antti Raanta getting them to this point, but Frederik Andersen is back in training, and was the frontrunner. One person all year.

With Igor Shesterkin playing and the Rangers advantage on special teams, I think they have incredible value for stealing tonight’s road match and the number one lead in the series.

prediction: moneyline rangers (+140 at DraftKings)

Over / Under Analysis

Under’s trend continued into Game 4, but Rangers finally managed to blast a bit offensively for the first time in the series, scoring four goals against Raanta.

Raanta did quite well in this series, but Shesterkin completely stole the show. In this series alone, he scored 1.25 GAA and 0.959 saves, conceding only five goals in his first four games.

Although Shesterkin was off, Raanta caught fire on the ice at the PNC Arena, where he was 5-0 with a 0.968 save and 1.70 GAA. He was a completely different goalkeeper at home.

The Under has appeared in all four games of this series, and with Carolina struggling offensively, I don’t see that changing much. The Rangers fought offensively on the road in this series, so we might not see many goals among them either.

The goal of defenses and team defenses has been the story of this entire series, and that will be the case again tonight.

Love this game to keep under.

prediction: less than 5.5 (-140 in DraftKings)

best bet

This series was very different in Carolina, and now that it’s tied for a 2-2 score, it’s all going to tighten a little defensively with how important this game is. In the first two games at Carolina Stadium, only one goal was scored in the first half between both competitions.

There are rumors that the Hurricanes may start Fredrik Andersen in this match, but I have a feeling they will continue to play with Ante Ranta, especially because of his good performances on the ice at home.

There will be more nerves in this game than any other we’ve seen in the series, and usually when that happens, the first period is all about limiting bugs and weathering the storm.

Igor Shesterkin answered every storm he faced against Carolina, and I think he will do it again tonight. The first period will be very active, but I expect the defenses of both teams will bend and not break. I like the rarer in the first 20 minutes.

pick or pick: First period less than 1.5 (-145 in DraftKings)
