KOMPAS.com After it was officially launched in the Chinese market last May, Oppo launched the Oppo Reno 8 series globally. There are two Oppo Reno 8 models launched globally, the “regular” Oppo Reno 8 and the Oppo Reno 8 Pro.
There are a number of variations found in the Oppo Reno 8 series launched in the Chinese and global markets.
First, the launch of the global version of the Oppo Reno 8 series only offers two models, the Oppo Reno 8 and the Oppo Reno 8 Pro. While in China, there are three models, which are the Oppo Reno 8, Oppo Reno 8 Pro and Oppo Reno 8 Plus versions.
Secondly, the chip that Oppo has included in the Reno 8 Pro in China is the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, while the global version of the Reno 8 Pro is powered by the Dimensity 8100 chip.

The third difference, the RAM and storage variant of the Chinese version of Oppo Reno 8 Pro has an 8/128GB variant, while the global version of Oppo Reno 8 Pro has only one variant, which is 8/256 GB.

In terms of screen, the global version of the Oppo Reno 8 carries a 6.4-inch AMOLED panel display. Full HD Plus screen resolution with a refresh rate of up to 90Hz.
The proprietary screen design is a perforated screen (punch holes). Unlike the Android screen model in general, this phone’s punch-hole is installed on the left side of the screen.
The design on the back of Oppo Reno 8 uses plastic material, so it gives a matte impression on the back. Then there is a logo with “Oppo” written vertically down the right of the back.

The Oppo Reno 8 has three cameras, the main camera is Sony IMX766 50 MP, f/1.8, with omnidirectional PDFAF. 8MP Ultra Wide Camera and 2MP Macro Camera. Meanwhile, the front selfie camera is IMX709 with a resolution of 32MP.
The camera has better auto focus and a wider range. This is because IMX709 and IMX766 support DOL-HDR with a wider dynamic range.
In the kitchen runway, the Oppo Reno 8 is powered by a Dimensity 1300 designed with 6nm manufacturing. The CPU consists of eight cores in two groups, 4x Cortex A48 and 4x Cortex A55, while the GPU uses the older generation, Mali-G77 MC9.
The chipset series will be combined with 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. However, this storage variant is not present in India, as the country will only offer a 128GB storage variant.
Specifications of Oppo Reno 8 Pro
The global version of the Oppo Reno 8 Pro carries a 6.7-inch AMOLED screen. The resolution has reached Full HD Plus (1080 x 2412 pixels) with a refresh rate of 120 Hz and is supported by HDR10 +.
Unlike the “regular” Oppo Reno 8, the Oppo Reno 8 Pro actually adopts the hole-punch model. However, the hole punch is positioned at the top center of the screen.
In addition to the shape of the screen model, the back of the Oppo Reno 8 Pro is also different. The material used is glass so it gives a glossy finish to create a more luxurious feel than the “regular” version.
Moving to the photographic sector, the Oppo Reno 8 Pro has the same camera configuration as the “normal” Oppo Reno 8, which is a 50MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, a 2MP macro camera, and a 32MP selfie camera.
In the kitchen runway, the Oppo Reno 8 Pro is powered by a Dimensity 8100-Max chipset designed with 5nm manufacturing. The chip has eight cores consisting of 4 Cortex-A78 and 4 Cortex A55. The integrated GPU is Mali-G610 MC6.
The Image Signal Processor (ISP) of the Oppo Reno 8 Pro is capable of producing good images. Because the image processing in the “Pro” version uses more chips made by Oppo, namely MariSilicon X.
This series of chips will be accompanied by two different types of RAM, 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, and 12GB of RAM with 256GB of storage.
Operating system and other features
Both phones are running Android 12-based ColorOS 12.1. For power resistance, the Oppo Reno 8 series has a 4,500mAh battery.
The Oppo Reno 8 series can use the 80W SuperVOOC to charge to 50 percent in 11 minutes.

For users who love to play games, the mobile phone can be charged within five minutes and can last for the next two hours. However, only certain countries have an output capacity of 66 watts.
The Battery Health Engine that these two smartphones have is able to reduce battery deterioration (damage) so that it can extend battery life by 1600 times charge.
Each of the Oppo Reno 8 series phones has an Ultra Clear Night Portrait feature that allows users to take pictures in low light conditions.
Other supporting features include an under-display fingerprint scanner, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS, NFC, USB-C, and a 3.5mm audio jack.
As a highlight, another feature that only the Pro has is that it has dual speakers with an X-axis linear actuator as feedback from the touch technology.
The “regular” Oppo Reno 8 has two color variants, Shimmer Gold and Shimmer Black. While the Oppo Reno 8 Pro comes in Glazed Green and Glazed Black colours.
As for the global version of the Oppo Reno 8, in India, this phone is priced at Rs 39,000 (around Rs 7.3 million).
While the price of the Oppo Reno 8 Pro is 46,000 rupees (about 8.6 million rupees) for the 8/256 GB version. This phone is also available in a 12GB RAM version.
It is rumored that the global launch will be located in Japan and India first. There is no information yet on when the global variant of the Reno 8 series will enter the Indonesian market.
