Apple on Friday opened pre-orders for the new MacBook Air with the M2 chip through its website and the Apple Store app, and delivery estimates for all configurations and color combinations in the US have already slipped.

Shipping estimates for all MacBook Air configurations have fallen back to July 26 or later, with some custom configurations with upgraded specifications shipping in late August. When pre-orders first started, some configurations were available for delivery as early as July 15th.

The new MacBook Air will also be available for purchase at select Apple Store locations around the world from July 15, but availability will likely be limited to standard configurations. Pricing for the new MacBook Air starts at $1,199 in the United States. The previous MacBook Air with the M1 chip remains available for $999.

Apple has also made the USB-C to MagSafe 3 Charging Cable available to order in three new colors to match the new MacBook Air. The cable is priced at $49 and is currently estimated to be delivered between July 15 and July 19 in the US.

Updates: July 15th delivery is no longer available for any M2 MacBook Air configuration. This story has been updated accordingly.
