iPhone 14 Pro highlights multiple design changes

Leaker Jon Prosser today shared seemingly accurate renderings of the iPhone 14 Pro, providing the most accurate yet look at what the device could look like when it launches later this year.

In the latest Front Page Tech YouTube video, Prosser revealed the ‌iPhone 14 Pro‌ renderings designed by Apple concept graphic designer Ian Zelbo, highlighting a host of specific design changes rumored to be coming to this year’s high-end iPhone model.

The renderings reflect a variety of plausible design rumors from reputable sources, including CAD renderings and specific dimensions, leaked schematics, photos of accessory production molds, early cases, and other information.

The front of the iPhone 14 Pro‌ is believed to feature a rounded True Depth camera array in the shape of a center bead rather than the notch and slimmer bezels around the screen, resulting in a dramatically different look to the front of the device. It is also said that there is a slightly larger screen which partially adds to the height of the device.

The most striking change to the rear of the device is the larger rear camera array, which houses a new 48-megapixel camera system with a 57 percent larger sensor and 8K video recording capability. The larger camera plateau is naturally noticeable on the 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro‌ compared to the 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro‌ Max.

Renders also show the corners of the iPhone 14 Pro‌ with a larger radius for a more rounded appearance. Apple may have had to change the corner radius of the iPhone 14 Pro‌ due to the larger rear camera array.

The rear camera arrays on the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max closely match the corner radius of each device’s frame, but when Apple increased the size of the camera arrays with the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro‌ Max, neither device matched its corners. . While the difference between the camera arrays in the iPhone 12 Pro Max‌ and iPhone 13 Pro‌ Max‌ is slight, the difference between the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro‌ is significant.

It seems plausible that with yet another increase in size this year, the discrepancy between the curves of the camera and lens plateau and the angles of the stainless steel frame itself has become severe on the iPhone 14 Pro‌, prompting Apple to tweak the design. The new, larger corner radius still doesn’t quite match the rounded corners of the rear camera matrix plateau, but it’s a lot closer. This patch carries noticeable changes to the front of the device.

The renders also focus on the iPhone 14’s popular purple color, with Prosser backing a previous report that claimed the iPhone 14‌ would top out with a “unique” purple color option. There are also images of the expected graphite, silver, and gold color options for the “Pro” models.
