Labor Day Warning: TxDOT and MADD Promote ‘Drive Sober. No Regrets.’ Campaign

Labor Day weekend marks the beginning of the “Drive Sober. No Regrets. “drunk driving prevention campaign operated by the Texas Department of Transportation statewide.

The number of accidents in Texas that were caused by drunk drivers was 65 per day on average last year, with three people losing their lives in those crashes.

Another interesting fact is that 334 holiday weekend traffic accidents in our state were caused by drunk driving in 2023. As a result, fourteen people lost their lives and thirty-five were taken seriously.

Saturation Saturday is another initiative that Mothers Against Drunk Driving has, according to Sherri McCollough, who spoke on Friday’s Eyewitness News.

We aim to educate drivers and put an end to preventable injuries and deaths.

Before you hit the town to celebrate Labor Day, be sure someone is driving sober. Use a rideshare app or hail a cab as other options.

After enjoying a long holiday weekend, both campaigns want everyone to return home safely.
