It seems like cucumbers would be a great nutritious snack. That is the vast majority of the time. However, reports indicate that cucumbers may have been the source of a large-scale outbreak of food poisoning this summer. Roughly 500 individuals have become sick as a result of this.

According to Salon.com, “a multi-state outbreak” of consumption of cukes-contaminated food is finally “waning.”

As of the beginning of July, 449 individuals infected with one of the strains of Salmonella Africana and Salmonella Braenderup have been reported from 31 states and the District of Columbia, according to a report released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as reported on Salon.com.

The study states that none of the 125 affected individuals died as a consequence of the infection, but that they were all hospitalized.

It would be wise to keep an eye on this. The information was compiled by us.

The Exact Number of People Injured by Contaminated Cucumbers Is Difficult to Ascertain.
In their study, the CDC stated that.

“The true number of sick people in this outbreak is likely much higher than the number reported and the outbreak may not be limited to the states with known illnesses.”

Two things could be at play here, according to Salon.com. The fact that it may take up to a month to determine whether a person is sick due to a specific outbreak of food poisoning is one of them. On top of that, people may get sick without ever having their Salmonella levels checked.
