Police in Seattle said on Wednesday that they had arrested a guy in relation to the carjacking that killed a dog walker in the city.
They named him Jahmed Haynes, 48, during a news conference.
His identity was confirmed after police recovered a fingerprint from the woman’s phone.
He was allegedly carrying a bloodstained knife and Ruth Dalton’s car keys when he was apprehended.
Additionally, Seattle Police said at Wednesday’s press conference that Haynes has a history of mental health difficulties and eight prior offenses.
According to the Seattle police, Haynes attempted to enter Dalton’s vehicle near the junction of East Harrison Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard East at approximately 9:55 a.m. on Tuesday.
Several dogs were in the car with her when this happened.
Haynes yanked Dalton out of the vehicle as police reported an altercation and the vehicle slid up onto a planter.
When an onlooker attempted to step in, Hayes allegedly drew a knife on him.
According to the police, the man returned with a bat in an attempt to save her, but the vehicle veered off the road, collided with many vehicles, and hit Dalton before madly accelerating away.

Still inside the vehicle was Dalton’s dog.
Authorities claim that Dalton murdered the dog after driving to Brighton. Beside the 3900 block of South Juneau Street, at the playfield, its corpse was discovered.
Cops found the booty close by.
Haynes will reportedly face multiple charges, including homicide, theft, and animal abuse, according to the Seattle Police Department.
